The Tie Between the Movies and the Big Apple

New York City is known for many different things.  It is known as "the Big Apple," it is known for those New Years Countdowns, it is known as the location of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, and it is known as the home of Broadway.  However, even that doesn't encompass everything that is associated with New York City.  Truthfully New York City is really known as a center of entertainment and that is associated with the cinematic arts as well.  

New York City has been the backdrop for many of the movies that people flock to the theaters to see.  If you are spending a couple of days in the city it is not uncommon to wander past a film set as you are simply wandering down the street.  Additionally, if you take a tour through the city you will see some of the most well known landmarks from some of your favorite movies.  For example, Times Square has been featured in many different movies, and with all of its glittering lights it is definitely a site to be seen.  

Additionally given the fact that New York City is a location for moviemaking it is also a wonderful place to try to catch celebrities.  You should keep your eye out on every turn because you never know who might be around the corner.  Additionally, there are great restaurants near some of the best cinemas in the area.  These restaurants are perfect to do some star sightings.

Speaking of celebrities more and more film premiers are being held in the big apple.  These are the perfect place to see your favorite movie stars.  However, one of the best places to see film stars is the American Museum of the Moving Image.  This museum is located in the Queens borough and it explores the stories of the films and the behind the scenes aspects as well.  Here you will be able to learn about the cinematic arts in a way that you would never be able to before.  

Of course if all you want to do is see a movie New York City will not disappoint.  York City is filled with movie theaters that show everything from blockbusters to intimate art films.  Chances are if there is a movie out there that you want to see you will be able to find it in a New York City theatre. 

Before you head to the big apple you will need to get your lodging squared away.  One of the most difficult things about finding lodging in New York City is that it tends to be very expensive.  Hotels in the big apple are rather pricy and that doesn't often fit into your budget.  Instead, you may want to look at finding a holiday apartment as a lodging option.  Holiday apartments are generally more affordable than hotel stays with even more comfort.
